  • Dr Glen Schlaphoff is one of Australia’s leading Interventional Radiologists and has been a Senior Staff Specialist in Liverpool Hospital since 2001.

    He was the head of department of Radiology from 2005 to 2015 and has been the head of department of Interventional Radiology since 2015.

    He is a founding partner of Spectrum Medical Imaging and Spectrum Interventional Radiology.

    He is one of the pioneers in Australia for Prostate Artery Embolisation, having helped introduce and popularise this procedure, and his expertise in this field is still highly sought after by patients and colleagues alike. Currently he has performed over 300 prostate artery embolisations both via transradial and femoral artery access.

    He consults out of the Spectrum IR consulting Suites at Sydney Southwest Private Hospital.

  • Dr Shady Osman is an Interventional Radiologist at Liverpool Hospital, Sutherland Hospital and Sydney South West Private Hospital.

    He graduated from Medicine at Auckland University in 2012 and became a fellow of the Royal Australia and New Zealand college of Radiologist in 2019. He spent 2019 undertaking advanced training in General MRI and Interventional Radiology in Auckland, New Zealand. Following this he obtained a further Interventional Radiology fellowship training at Liverpool Hospital in Sydney. In 2020 he obtained his European Board of Interventional Radiology (EBIR) qualifications.

    Dr Osman specialises in minimally invasive image-guided procedures including prostate artery embolisation and varicocele embolisation.

    He is one of the Australian pioneers of haemorrhoid artery embolisation, a minimally invasive method of treating bleeding haemorrhoids.

  • Dr Jules Catt is an Interventional Radiologist at Liverpool Hospital, Sutherland Hospital and various private Hospitals across Sydney. He is the lead Doctor at Sydney Vein Specialists.

    He specialises in minimally invasive image-guided procedures and endovascular treatment including varicocele embolisation and prostate artery embolisation.

    He is an expert at men’s health having chaired the urology meeting at Liverpool hospital for many years.

  • Dr Xiang completed his MBBS (Hons II) at UNSW in 2011, winning the GR Cameron Prize for pathology. He completed radiology training at Concord Hospital. After obtaining his FRANZCR in 2019, he undertook an interventional radiology fellowship in Vancouver, Canada under the University of British Columbia from 2019 to 2020. In 2023 Dr Xiang was awarded the EBIR with distinction, an award given to the top two candidates worldwide.

    Dr Xiang currently holds interventional radiology appointments at Liverpool Hospital, Concord Hospital and Sydney Southwest Private Hospital.

    His areas of interest include prostate artery embolisation using glue and advanced interventional pain management techniques for chronic pelvic pain.

    He also trained under Dr Lindsay Machan, a world expert in varicocele embolisation in Vancouver and brings this experience to the patients of Sydney.

  • Dr Yehia El Hgar is an Interventional Radiologist at Liverpool and Sydney South West Private Hospitals in Sydney. He has completed a Fellowship in Interventional Radiology at Vancouver General and UBC Hospitals in Vancouver, Canada, after medical school and radiology training in Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists. 

    Dr El Hgar specialises in minimally invasive image-guided procedures, and has an interest in diagnostic and interventional oncology, and the advancement of radial artery access within the rapidly developing field of Interventional Radiology.

    He is an expert in varicocele embolisation having trained under Dr Lindsay Machan in Vancouver, one of the world experts in this procedure. He also performs prostate artery embolisation via transradial access, limiting the invasiveness of the procedures and allowing immediate mobilisation with same day discharge.
